The different types of videos
Examples of the types of videos brands are looking for
On Insense there are 6 main different types of videos a brand can ask you to create. Here’s a description of each one of them, and also a few good examples 😉
Testimonial
Testimonials are videos where the creators will try/use a product and reproduce what was their experience in their own words. In this type of content, creators usually:
-
Introduce a problem
-
Explain and talk about their experience, showing genuine feelings
-
Show the results, talk about the solution and highlights why your product is so special
The key to a video testimonial is authenticity. You want to prioritize sharing a story in your own words to maximize the impact (and believability) of the video.
Example:
Unboxing
An unboxing video is when an influencer or content creator unpacks new consumer products on camera for the first time, while discussing the respective products’ features, branding, packaging, and other relevant details.
This type of content focuses on the product arrival, unboxing process with attention to details, showing the texture and details of the products while taking them out. The main goal is that the viewers are compelled to watch the video until the end and see what the product does or how it is in reality.
Example:
Product Demo
A product demonstration video is a visual and sound experience, allowing the audience to see how the product works by showing it in action. Demo videos are an interesting way to show the product’s value to customers, as they briefly provide a high-level introduction to what the product does. The general structure of a demo product goes like:
-
Introduces a problem that the product can solve;
-
Present features of the product that can be appealing to the audience;
-
Walk the audience through the process of using the product;
-
Show the results of using the product.
Before and after videos are a great example of product demos, as well as product application videos and videos focused on the texture, feel and dynamics of a product.
This type of content usually includes a suggestion why to use this product, tells the audience why the product is so great and how it helps to solve a pain point or problem.
Example:
Product Review
This type of video highlights product features and solutions to pain points, in an honest review format. A good review should drag potential customers to purchase the product.
A product review video will make sure the audience is briefed first-hand on the features and workability of a product, and they will understand its working model. This type of content includes detailed information about size, price, characteristics, and where to purchase.
Example:
How-To
How-To videos are a visually engaging experience to teach viewers how to do something. It's a clear set of steps to accomplish a task or learn a new skill. At the end of the video, the viewer should be able to take the same steps and accomplish what they set out to learn.
How to videos can be tutorials, educational videos or instructional videos. Creators can share tips about a product and then dive into the steps for accomplishing the task.
Example:
Custom
Sometimes the brand might opt to choose a “Custom” video, which they will describe in more details what they expect from it, and how it should be.
